Single panel doors are constructed from one monolithic panel. From the closed position a single panel door swings up and overhead with a hinge on each side (known as jamb type hardware) to the fully open position. A disadvantage of monolithic panel doors is that the swing up arc of the door occurs partially outside the garage. This means a vehicle must stop and park several feet in front of the door to avoid being hit by the garage door when it is opened.
If the light attached to the door opener mechanism blinks several times after the door reopens, this generally means something is blocking the sensors or that they've become misaligned. The two sensors are generally clipped onto the door track about six inches from the floor. You can move them slightly with your hands to try to get them lined up. Other possibilities include a broken cable that must be replaced, a track that is bent and needs to be replaced or a worn extension spring cable pulley that needs to be replaced.
Most good companies carry different quality parts. If someone can't afford to fix there door with the parts that will last long term, they will use standard parts that the door comes with. These can fail within 5 years. Better question is, how do you own a house, but can't afford $963 repair. A new HVAC can cost $10K. I wouldn't expect anyone to come to my house for less than $200. If I wasn't paying over $500 I would be questioning the quality of the repair and the credentials of the technician.

Step 2: Check the tracks with a level to make sure they're properly aligned. Horizontal tracks should slant slightly down toward the back of the garage; with roll-up doors, the vertical sections of track should be exactly plumb. Both tracks must be at the same height on the garage walls. If the tracks are not properly aligned, loosen but do not remove the screws or bolts that hold the mounting brackets, and tap the tracks carefully into position. Recheck the tracks with the level to make sure they're in the right position; then tighten the screws or bolts at the mounting brackets.

Annual maintenance. Make an annual check of all nuts and bolts on rails and rollers to make sure they’re firmly tightened. Check the condition of all cables to make sure they’re not worn or frayed. Lubricate rollers and springs with a garage-door lubricant (see How to Fix a Noisy Garage Door for maintenance and problem-solving tips). The door should operate smoothly and be properly balanced. Check the balance by disconnecting the opener and lowering the door halfway- the door should hold its position. If it doesn’t, adjust the spring tension or replace the springs.
1. The up-limit switch may need to be moved toward the motor unit. This switch is usually a simply touch-lever mounted on the end of the track near the motor unit, and if it is too far away, the motor will stop the door before it fully opens. The solution is to move the switch closer to the motor unit. This is a somewhat rare problem, and will usually show itself immediately after a new garage door opener is installed.
If the sensors are misaligned, or if there’s an obstruction blocking the beam from reaching the other side, the door won’t close without you forcing it. If you’re unable to realign the sensors on your own, or think it’s something else causing the problem, call a garage door repair technician. If he or she is able to realign the sensors and fix the problem, it shouldn’t cost you much more than a service call fee, which averages $50 to $75.

Using your drill, add tension to the torsion spring. This system uses a single spring for a double door, but many manufacturers use two springs for a double door. The painted line on the spring acts as a gauge for the number of turns you put on the spring. To keep the bar from turning while you’re adding tension, attach a locking pliers to the bar on both ends of the spring. Apply lubricant for garage doors to the spring.
